Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra has hired an Indo-American CEO for major global matchmaking sites. The industrialist praised Sharmistha Dubey, the engineer who reinvented the online dating game into a multi-billion dollar empire.

Mahindra shared a New York Times article on Texas’ new abortion law and wrote, “I have to admit this is the first time I’ve heard of her. Isn’t she often named in the lists of global CEOs of Indian origin because the companies she runs are dating sites? ”. Dubey is among the rarest CEOs who have responded to Texas’ restrictive abortion law. She created a fund to support workers and dependents based in Texas who needed treatment out of state.

Dubey grew up in Jamshedpur in the 1970s and 1980s. She graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in Kharagpur in 1993. After graduating, Dubey returned to his hometown and worked for a steel company for a year, before saving enough money to attend Ohio State University.
