(CNN) — After the Supreme Court ruled Friday to overturn Roe v. Wade, corporate giants from various sectors have pledged to provide support and financial assistance to employees – and, in some cases, to their dependents – seeking abortions in states that prohibit the procedure.

The court’s decision to overturn the nearly 50-year-old landmark decision, which protected the federal constitutional right to abortion, is expected to transform America’s reproductive health landscape, leaving abortion policy to individual states and opening up the path for many states to enact new restrictions on abortion. On Friday afternoon, state officials in at least seven states said new abortion bans could now be enforced.

Millions of people seeking abortions may soon be forced to cross state lines to access the procedure, increasing the cost of an already often expensive health service. For many, employer benefits may be the only way to afford an abortion.

In response, companies, some of which have headquarters or offices in Republican-controlled states, are taking action. Companies such as Citigroup, Salesforce and Match Group first pledged financial support to employees seeking abortions in affected states after a draft version of the advisory leaked in May. Many more followed suit on Friday. Some, including Bumble and Lyft, have also said they will donate to organizations that support women’s rights, such as Planned Parenthood and Fund Texas Choice.

Corporate America is increasingly pulled from the political sidelines on the abortion issue in response to pressure from investors, customers and employees. Companies are also struggling to attract and retain talent and are concerned about the impact these states’ anti-abortion laws could have on their workers.

Here are some of the top companies offering expanded assistance to personnel in states limiting abortion care.

Microsoft

Microsoft has expanded its financial support for ‘essential health care’, including abortions and gender-affirming care, to include coverage for travel costs for those services, after the draft notice quashing Roe first leaked. .

A Bumble spokesperson added that the company will donate to the American Civil Liberties Union of Texas and the Planned Parenthood Federation of America.

“Abortion is health care, and health care is a human right. We are deeply troubled by the Supreme Court’s decision,” the spokesperson said in a statement.

Matching group

In October, dating app company Match Group partnered with Planned Parenthood Los Angeles to provide abortion access to its Texas employees and their dependents. The company is currently considering extending this benefit to all of its U.S. staff, including remote employees in states with trigger laws that may soon ban abortions, according to a Match spokesperson. Nike

The sportswear company said in a statement that it covers travel and accommodation costs in situations where health services are not available close to home, according to a Friday statement from Nike.

“No matter where our teammates are on their family planning journey – from birth control and abortion coverage, to pregnancy support and family building, to fertility benefits, maternity surrogacy and adoption – we are here to support their decisions,” the statement read.

Starbucks

The coffee company is offering employees enrolled in its health care plan a medical travel benefit to access an abortion, according to a public letter to employees by Sara Kelly, acting executive vice president of Starbucks Partner Resources.

“We all have to deal with this in our own way, and as you do, here’s what I want you to know: No matter where you live or what you believe in, we will always make sure you have access to healthcare. of quality,” Kelly said in the letter.

Dick Sporting Goods

For employees who live in a state that restricts access to abortion, Dick’s will provide up to $4,000 in reimbursement for travel costs to travel to the closest location where care is legally available, a the company said in a statement Friday. The benefit will be available to any employee, spouse or dependent enrolled in their medical insurance plan, as well as a support person.

Kroger

Alaska Airlines said in a statement that it has always provided travel reimbursements for “certain medical procedures and treatments if they are not available where you live.”

“Today’s Supreme Court decision does not change that,” he said.

Mike Berk was dumped by Ximena Morales Cuellar on Before the 90 Days, and many viewers are curious if he still hopes to get back together.

Mike Berk and Ximena Morales Cuellar had a mess 90 day fiance breach of franchise on 90 Day Fiance: Before 90 Days it left many viewers curious whether or not Mike moved on. Due to his limited dating experience, Mike became extremely enamored with Ximena and was eager to take on a parenting role with his two sons. Many 90 day fiance fans followed Ximena’s messy love life, though things were much calmer on Mike’s side.

Mike asked Ximena to tell viewers that they met on a dating app, although she later revealed she was working as a cam girl when she caught Mike’s eye. Mike quickly fell in love with Ximena and paid her to stop working as a cam girl. Although she accepted his marriage proposal, Ximena then broke things off. Mike refused to accept that Ximena didn’t want to be with him and stayed home in a tense and explosive breakup that saw him branded as the franchise’s surprising villain. Although the couple were shockingly reunited by the Tell-All, they have since gone their separate ways.

While Ximena lived her best life in Colombia after Before 90 days and has even already broken off another engagement after breaking up with Mike, the New Yorker is leading a calmer life in the United States. Mike hasn’t confirmed any relationships since his split from Ximena, as he seems to be more focused on himself, his family and his sports teams. However, some viewers believe that Mike is still bitter about ending things. While Ximena has moved on without looking back, Mike has worked hard to redeem himself in the eyes of 90 day fiance fans as he tries to convey how much he cares for Ximena and what a good person he is.

Mike Berk and Ximena Morales of 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days.

There are several indications that Mike potentially might not be completely over his relationship. Mike continues to reference his relationship and the show on social media, even though his breakup likely happened over a year ago. He recently commented on his Instagram page about Ximena’s sons and always seems to feel affectionate towards young boys. Mike was also ready to get back together with Ximena despite the number of times she broke up with him. It would therefore not be unreasonable to think that he still holds out hope for a reconciliation. However, Mike did not directly confirm this.

Although Mike is staunchly single, his Before 90 days ex-fiancée Ximena has been linked to many men. After breaking up with Mike after the Tell-All, Ximena posted her new engagement online. However, she seems to have already separated from this man and is now linked to another boyfriend. Many viewers are curious if Mike was the mystery man who funded Ximena’s breast augmentation or if she received funding from someone else for the procedure. Since Mike is currently single, there is a chance that he could continue in the 90 day fiance franchise with a place on 90 days: single life.

“Face shots? I ask the pictureless profile claiming to be a six-foot tall male weighing 78kg. He’s slim, looking for “masc only” and just proposed to me.

“Impossible to send, I am discreet”, comes the answer. However, he sends a photo of his penis which I did not request. So goes another demoralizing Grindr exchange.

It might be the gayest app out there, but there seems to be one conspicuous absence: pride.

Grindr is the most popular dating app for (mostly) gay men. It has 3.8 million daily active users worldwide and is the most downloaded LGBT+ app in the UK. For the uninitiated, he could be mistaken for a gay cousin of Tinder. But if you’ve had the misfortune to venture onto the app – or know someone who has – you’ll know it’s a very different beast, not least in its particular emphasis on connections.

Unlike the message-matching requirement of other dating apps, anyone can message anyone else found in a grid organized by physical proximity down to the nearest meter. Personally identifiable information is also absent. While categorization from body type to HIV status is standard, names and faces are an optional bonus.

One of my first experiences on the app as a college freshman saw me travel to encounter a headless, nameless torso. Such a risk now seems untenable (I hadn’t even told anyone where I was going!) but I didn’t know any more.

I rationalized that he needed to be locked up, but that was not all. He also had a wife.

When we arrived, we quickly got to work, but I was puzzled by her reluctance to kiss me. Afterwards, he admitted that kissing another man made him “uncomfortable” (ironic considering the things he seemed to feel comfortable doing with men). I rationalized that he needed to be locked up, but that was not all. He also had a wife.

The anonymity allowed by the application is for men like that: those who are locked up, who want gay sex in secret. Despite their cravings, they’re not comfortable with being gay, so set their aliases to “direct action” and ask “no fem please”. They feel like they’re doing something wrong, and that makes us feel like we are too.

It’s obviously heteronormativity and anti-effeminacy – to me, it’s homophobia. But no one bats an eyelid.

(Getty Images)

For years, in my experience, virtual mask-wearing has enabled and encouraged derogatory language, unsolicited genital images, and explicit and unwarranted sexual demands. The senders are irresponsible while the unfortunate recipients eventually learn to expect and tolerate these messages, attempting to disconnect from their more degrading or triggering aspects.

Grindr’s dominance in gay dating since its launch in 2009 means young gay men are coming of age with it as a role model for love, sex, and dating. For me, it couldn’t be worse. Their introduction to the gay community – albeit virtual – should inspire pride and acceptance. As things stand, in my experience, the underbelly of self-stigma means encountering homophobic slurs is more likely. Bowing to locked up men allows shame and bigotry to fester.

Moreover, the acceptance of anonymity is conducive to dangerous situations. People using fake (catfish) identities are so prolific that there are entire forums dedicated to helping Grindr users avoid creepy encounters with men who aren’t who they say they are.

Bowing to locked up men allows shame and bigotry to fester

As I can attest from my own early experiences, young users are particularly vulnerable to fake profiles and taking unnecessary risks, having not yet undergone trial and error learning the strategies to avoid them. However, even for more established users, a “This is his address, in case I get kidnapped!” text to a close friend should often suffice.

The app should require verified names, faces, and ID. There is nothing shameful about being gay or having gay sex. The only people who would be excluded by this change are those who still believe there are – and frankly, good riddance. Come back when you’ve accepted that using Grindr and being “straight” are fundamentally incompatible.

Meanwhile, the rest of us must try to start thinking of ourselves as people rather than categories. We can build the mutual respect we’ve been missing and be kinder to each other. Dating and dating should be fun, and we deserve to be safe and respected while using the best tool we have.

Grindr’s popularity is going nowhere and its developers have a responsibility to the community they serve. Will they continue to allow a culture of anonymity and, in my opinion, sexual shame, or will our most prominent gay dating app finally start promoting pride and acceptance?

In response, Vice President of Global Communications at Grindr, Patrick Lenihan, said, “These recommendations would be dangerous to large parts of the global queer community, and the author’s accusations completely interpret cultural issues and technological challenges. .

“Grindr will continue its mission to connect queer people with each other and with the world.”

Tinder has a whole bunch of exciting new features on the way to guarantee you a summer of love.

From Swipe Party (a setting that lets you check out your friends on matches) to Festival Mode (connecting you with festival-goers before the event), Tinder’s offering is the best it’s ever been.

Tinder CEO Renate Nyborg told LADbible what’s in store for the world’s most popular dating app, and of course, get her tips for writing the best bio possible.

CEOs don’t come much more impressive than Nyborg, who, at 36, is the first woman to hold the top spot on Tinder.

Nyborg effortlessly combines her drive, smarts, and laser-focused composure with a playful warmth that makes it hard not to fangirl, and genuinely glows when it comes to Tinder’s latest features.

“The thing about Tinder is that we designed it to work with any type of romantic outcome, and any type of romantic outcome that you want to have,” Nyborg said with a smile.

Elaborating on one of the new ways the app lets users shape the journey of their online romance, Nyborg told us about Free Tonight, a feature used by people looking for immediacy.

“It does what it says on the box,” Nyborg explained. “You go over there and there are other people you can correspond with who are looking to do something here right now.”

Then there’s the soon-to-launch Swipe Party, a feature Nyborg said “explores the notion of making Tinder fun for everyone.”

Using Swipe Party, singles can invite their friends to help find potential matches.

“If you want your friends to help you control people, you can invite those friends to the experiment,” Nyborg told us.

Festival mode is sure to be a hit with Brits, a new Tinder feature that helps users connect before heading to festivals. Festival Mode sits on Tinder’s new Explore feature, which lets people connect based on common interests.

“Explore is the new surface of Tinder. That’s where you can go and instead of just corresponding directly with people, you can connect based on common interests, like having a pet or being into food,” Nyborg explained.

The feature Nyborg is most looking forward to? That would be Tinder Games. “It’s one of the things I’m most excited about this year,” she beamed.

“We have games coming to Tinder. You can start a game with someone and flirt with them through it.

Now is the perfect time to check out your bio for the full list of new Tinder features. Credit: Alamy

Tinder’s new list of features is now as good as any for checking out your bio, and Nyborg was more than happy to share her top tips on it.

“We definitely see that anyone with a really authentic biography is likely to meet more people,” Nyborg revealed.

“We see that doing things like adding your Spotify account will lead to new matches, people are looking for people who share the same interests.”

Nyborg added, “If you have a pet, you should definitely include it in your bio. People who have a dog in their profile picture get 5% more matches on Tinder.” There you go. Now go -y and slide.

My first look at the Metaverse was quite a memorable experience. I went to one of the more popular social metaverse worlds and moments after loading into the zone I was accosted by a number of what looked like teenagers.

Some started asking, “Will you marry me?” and others called me all kinds of sexist insults and slurs. Many of the boy avatars looked like over-sexualized, anime-style young girls wearing nothing but underwear and bras. Being surrounded by half a dozen 13-year-old boys using overtly sexual avatars while shouting obscenities can be quite shocking. I attempted to elude them by leaving the area, only for one of the stalkers to find me within minutes and direct his entourage of college angst in my direction. After this cycle was repeated several times, I lost my temper and disconnected thinking to myself, “How could a woman appreciate that? That’s when I learned what harassment can look like in the metaverse.

The Metaverse is a network of immersive online worlds accessible via virtual reality or augmented reality headsets. It is a digital life, parallel to the real world, where users can interact with markets, educational institutions, virtual offices, social networks and gaming experiences, while wearing a personalized avatar. Many tech and investment leaders believe the Metaverse will soon be a huge part of our economy, providing endless sources of entertainment and job opportunities. Forbes recently wrote that “the metaverse is going to be a trillion dollar industry”. But these new centers of entertainment and work are not always safe for women.

My experience was not unique. Stories of women being stalked in the metaverse are rife.

As a reader, you support local news. Congress should too.

Unsurprisingly, many reasonable people are simply not interested in such stories. “Of course people misbehave on the internet,” they say. “That’s why you shouldn’t meet people on the internet!”

This perspective ignores how dependent Americans, especially young Americans, have become on the Internet for dating. According to eHarmony, “20% of current committed relationships began online” and up to “40% of Americans use online dating.” As of 2019, according to The Knot, the number one way for Americans to form new, lasting romantic relationships is to meet online, before meeting with friends, at school and at work. To suggest that people should ditch the way they go out #1 is like telling people to stop driving because the roads aren’t safe, rather than accepting that we need to fix the roads.

The stories of harassment in the metaverse are actually stories about how the developers of many metaverse platforms have failed to make them safe for women, and the ramifications of those failures. The solution is to fix these platforms rather than discourage women from entering the metaverse.

I’m a founding partner of a company called FireFlare Games, and we’re creating VR dating in the metaverse with women’s safety at the forefront. We call it Planet Theta. As founder, I have strived to ensure that our team has the insight needed to develop and integrate cutting-edge technologies to protect everyone. My hope is that Planet Theta will become a model for other metaverse platforms.

Metaverse development is a male-dominated field. Besides a few supporting artists, the industry is almost entirely made up of men. The results are not surprising: many metaverse platforms seem to ignore women’s concerns.

Our team’s research revealed that men and women have very different concerns when it comes to using dating apps. Men’s main concern is being tricked – lied about the identity, personality or appearance of the real person behind the avatar they are interacting with. The main concern of women? Security. Women fear being assaulted in the metaverse, or worse in real life. So, in a field dominated by men, it’s no surprise that app developers have come up with plenty of creative solutions to combat catfishing through features like verified profiles and verified photos. As for protecting women’s safety, most have left it to women to protect themselves.

Many women agree that meeting in person for the first time after meeting someone on a dating app is scary and dangerous. My girlfriends and I make it a rule never to go on a first date from a dating app without the help of a friend. At least one of us will agree on a check-in time with a secret code known to both parties to signal that all is well. Although women have found new ways to protect and protect themselves, the dating industry itself has failed.

I want to make sure everyone has an equal chance to experience the metaverse. The metaverse is coming, and it will be bigger than the internet. There’s no way to stop it. But there is a chance to make it safer.

People who want to share their relationship status on Facebook have a plethora of options to choose from, from classic (“single”, “couple”, “married”) to more nuanced labels like “it’s complicated” or “in a relationship with”. open relationship.” But if you’re polyamorous, there’s no definite descriptor available, nor is there a way to mark more than one person as your partner.

A new open letter to Meta, hosted by the recently founded nonprofit for Polyamory and Ethical Non-Monogamy (OPEN), says that needs to change. “All users of the Facebook app should have the right to name all of their romantic and intimate partners, without limit,” says the letter, which was signed by 11 leaders advocating for polyamorous rights and positivity and sexual freedom. The letter also says Facebook should allow people to choose more than one relationship status, where applicable.

The issues at stake go far beyond status updates, says Diana Adams, one of the letter’s signatories and executive director of the Chosen Family Law Center, which advocates for LGBTQ and polyamorous families as well as people belonging to other alternative family structures.

“It’s important for Meta to recognize non-monogamous relationships on its platform because being open about relationship structure reduces social stigma,” Adams says. “We know from history that when there are positive portrayals around us and people feel safe to go out, and we realize that the people we know and care about are in marginalized communities, it has ripple effects on civil and legal rights.”

In other words, giving polyamorous people the technical ability to authentically represent their relationships would not only increase their visibility. By helping to dispel all-too-common negative stereotypes about polyamory, such a change in Meta could open the door to greater societal and legal recognition of families outside of the traditional nuclear model.

Is polyamory becoming more mainstream?

An estimated 4-5% of adults in the United States are involved in polyamory or some other form of ethical non-monogamy. The big difference between polyamory and open relationships is that the former involves forming intimate romantic relationships with multiple partners, while the latter usually means that a couple has a primary partnership as well as the freedom to date others or to have sex with others.

In many ways, the Internet has proven to be a boon for practitioners of non-monogamy. Dating apps like OkCupid allow people to find other people looking for non-monogamous relationships, as do more specialized dating apps like Feeld. Scheduling apps like Google Calendar are salvation for people who need to coordinate with multiple partners, while platforms like TikTok empower content creators to spread the word about ethical non-monogamy.

As more and more people open up about polyamory, the law is also changing. In 2017, for example, a California judge granted parental rights to three men in a joint partnership; the same year, three men in a polyamorous relationship were legally married in Colombia.

Adams’ Chosen Family Law Center has also been involved in recent efforts to legalize polyamorous domestic partnerships in the United States. In 2020 and 2021, the Massachusetts cities of Cambridge and Somerville became the first in the United States to pass ordinances giving domestic partnership rights to people with multiple partners.

But Adams points out that there is still great discrimination against people who practice non-monogamy, a group that is not a legally protected class in the United States. “You absolutely can be fired from your job or denied an apartment rental or child custody because you are in a non-monogamous consensual relationship,” they explain.

This means that polyamorous dating still carries very real risks. But the more companies like Meta signal their acceptance of alternative family and relationship structures, Adams suggests, the more everyone who breaks out of the narrow mold of heterosexual, monogamous marriage, including singles, people in same-sex relationships and people who put friendship rather than romance at the center of their lives – have everything to gain.

“We all have common interests,” says Adams. “The rights of one are the rights of all of us.”

There are reasons why we are attracted to a specific type of person. Maybe you’re attracted to people with dark hair or a certain height, but evolution could play a part in that thinking. In fact, Dr. Shannon Curry, a clinical psychologist, told Brides, “At the beginning of human existence, life was short and brutal.” Partner selection was based on survival rather than the search for a “meaningful and fulfilling relationship”. When you’re determined to only date your type, you might “limit” yourself by judging the person and preventing yourself from meeting someone who could make you truly happy.

Additionally, Connell Barrett, a dating coach, told Elite Daily, “One benefit of dating someone outside of your type is to grow and learn.” Suppose you keep your options limited to your type. In this case, you could repeat the same cycle and prevent yourself from meeting someone who offers a different perspective on life to help you “broaden your romantic horizons”. Cosmopolitan shared that “detype” will be a big dating trend in 2022, citing Kim Kardashian and Pete Davidson’s relationship as an example.

Even Badoo, a dating app, shared that “three-quarters of singles are looking to ditch their ‘type’ for 2022.” Maybe dating “your type” for years hasn’t worked out for some reason and is keeping you from finding your person — and you need a reset. You never know what’s out there, so opening yourself up to new possibilities could help you find your soul mate.

Finding a date can be difficult because everyone is so particular and determined about what they want from their partner. Also, if you are a smoker or addicted to other tobacco products, your chances of finding “the one” are reduced. Smoking has lost its appeal over time, but has this led to a decrease in the number of smokers?

Dating app, QuackQuack surveyed its users to learn more about the effects of smoking on love life. According to the survey results, 69% of male users aged 31 and over are heavy smokers. While 79% of male users aged 18-30 are primarily non-smokers.

Tobacco addiction creates chaos in love life
Forty-seven percent of people have dated someone with a tobacco addiction at some point in their life. The subject of recovery seemed to be stuck in limbo more often than not. Twenty-two percent of people admitted to fighting because of their partner’s addiction.

What the women said
Twenty-eight percent of users said their dates were often emotionally unavailable due to their tobacco addiction. They prioritized the substance they use over their relationship. Some of these women revealed that when confronted, their dates tried to justify their addiction to cigarettes citing factors such as work pressure, family tensions, etc.

Confessions of a Smoker
Twenty-three percent of the men admitted to being addicted to cigarettes and other tobacco products, but did not specify their dates. They worry that their smoking habits will cause problems in their love life. Even if their partners are unaware of their addiction, 12% of these men said they were making efforts to quit smoking and had made good progress.

Dating a smoker is a daunting task
Twenty-five percent of people aged 25 to 30 said dating a smoker can be difficult. You may find yourself engaging in empowering behavior. Continued smoking can have serious health consequences. The majority of users who responded to the survey said that they would not want to be in a relationship with someone who has health problems, especially if they are self-inflicted.

deal breaker
Fourteen percent of people aged 21 to 29 said smoking was an absolute no-no. When you start dating someone to find happiness and stability, it’s not always a good idea to date someone who is suffering from an addiction. These people revealed that, given the possibility of relapse, they are unlikely to consider dating someone who is trying to quit smoking.

Smoking will cost you dearly!
Twenty-one percent of people aged 25 to 35 reported changes in their partner’s drinking habits due to their smoking habits and other tobacco addictions. It can be costly to feed an addiction. A cigarette a day costs a significant sum.

A hand
Although it is not their responsibility to change their partner’s habits, 16% of women said they would like to help their partner recover from tobacco addiction. They also suggested that you help your partner quit the addiction on their own. If they break their habit for you, chances are they will relapse.

QuackQuack Founder and CEO Ravi Mittal commented, “In terms of desirability, smokers are on the back end of non-smokers. According to our survey, there seems to be a complete reversal of smoking habits among users over the age of 31. the model shows that the majority of young people are non-smokers, but they are also consciously trying to quit.”

For smokers and drug addicts, remember to ask for help. Addiction not only ruins your love life, but it also wreaks havoc on your body.
