Get paid up to £40,000 a year to watch ‘Too Hot to Handle’ and other dating shows

A dating app that matches people based on their emotional connection to music wants to pay someone £100 per episode (around £40,000 a year) to watch dating shows in 2022 – like Too Hot to Handle and Love Island.

The app, POM, wants to hire a ‘Dating Show Dissector’ to watch and dissect dating shows, to understand where contestants go wrong and help guide singles so they can avoid making the same mistakes, all for app content.

The app hopes to find an enthusiastic dating show fan to write content about upcoming dating shows in 2022, like Too Hot to Handle, The Cabins and Love Island, following their boom in popularity in recent years.

The successful applicant will receive £100 for each episode watched and to write notes which analyze the events of each show, outlining the ‘dating dos and don’ts’ that applicants might post.

The app shared that working hours are flexible due to TV show schedules, but in return contestants will earn £100 per episode, which equates to around a salary of £40,000 a year, as the application predicts that the professional will have to watch an average of 7 hours of TV each week.

POM has also confirmed that the cost of TV subscriptions and licenses for the entire period of employment will be covered, including a Netflix and NOWTV subscription.

Notes produced by the Dating Show Dissector will be used to form content for POM’s social media channels, email newsletter and blog.

The creators of the app said it’s important that potential candidates have a passion for watching dating shows, but not someone who just watches drama but is also interested in how humans interact when it comes to dating.

Those looking to apply for the job aren’t expected to be professional writers, as the company is looking for “talent, not experience.”

Asked about the roles, Vihan Patel, founder of POM, said: “Dating shows are clearly not just a guilty pleasure anymore – everyone seems to watch them! We thought it would be a great idea to take everyone’s favorite TV genre and turn it into valuable life lessons and amazing content for our users.

“What’s also really exciting about this role is that we’re not looking for someone with a lot of experience. What is important is that our new recruit brings the right level of passion and atmosphere to the team. Plus, we think it’s the perfect job to start in early 2022; people can get comfortable and get paid for something they may already be doing for free!

Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.

Applications close on January 28, 2022 and anyone wishing to apply for the position can do so here:
