Long-awaited opening date for Cardiff’s Ivy Asia restaurant pushed back
The opening date for the Ivy Asia, which is due to open in Cardiff city centre, has been pushed back. The restaurant was due to open next to the current Ivy Restaurant on The Hayes in the spring of this year, with an advert on the site saying “Opening Spring 2022”.
The Ivy Asia website also says the new restaurant will open in the spring of this year. However, a spokesperson said the opening date has been pushed back to the summer. When the new restaurant opens, the cuisine on offer will be different from that of The Ivy next door.

“Serving theatrical drinks and cocktails alongside a delicious menu of tantalizing dishes, the lively restaurant will inspire and excite you the moment you step inside,” the Cardiff branch website page reads. The Ivy Asia is inspired by “a number of Asian cuisines” and their current locations in London and Manchester serve small dishes such as tiger prawns and sushi.
A spokesperson for The Ivy confirmed the restaurant would open in the summer of this year, saying: “Troia UK Restaurants Ltd will be opening The Ivy Asia, Cardiff at 45/47 The Hayes, Cardiff in the summer of 2022. Following the launch from The Ivy Asia, St Paul’s and The Ivy Asia, Chelsea in London, the Asian-inspired bar and restaurant will be open seven days a week for lunch, dinner and weekend brunch. this dynamic destination will inspire and excite customers the moment they step inside.
The restaurant will occupy the current locations of the former Cath Kidston and Seasalt Cornwall stores and is expected to be a hit following the success of The Ivy which opened in 2019. The Ivy Cardiff opened in November 2019 and has proven popular with locals and celebrities. even, including John Barrowman and the cast of Netflix’s Sex Education.
