Love in times of pandemic has forced service and hospitality industry players to be more creative, to think outside the box. Indoor dining is back on the menu, but by giving diners options outside, it’s covering their bases and ensuring continuous air circulation, one of the best ways to avoid contracting COVID. . The cool weather we experience in the metro is just a bonus.
For Valentine’s Day, the Venice Grand Canal at McKinley Hill is offering al fresco dining packages available through February 15. The Megaworld Lifestyle mall offers several options where customers can take advantage of dining promotions with advance reservations. Each package includes a full plated meal for two adults.
San Marco Alley has slots for eight cars per hour of service at 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. February 11-15. Guests will have a romantic view under a neon tunnel. They can choose from several restaurants that will prepare and deliver the food to their vehicle.
If you’re looking to drink wine and dine with your significant other, there are five Love Pods set up in Venice Piazza available by reservation. Diners can expect views of Venice-inspired architecture, listening to music, and sharing full meals.
Ponte Rialto offers two food packages (priced at P3,654++ and P3,319++) including Bruschette Di Mare or Spadellata Di Vongole; Spaghetti Puttanesca or Pizza Napoletana; Filetto Di Pollo Impanato or Spaghetti Aglio Olio; Cannoli (plain, chocolate, pistachio) or Tiramisu; and a tour of Four Seasons.
Cobalabamba’s two food packages (P2,070++) include a choice of chipotle chicken with rice or blackened chops with rice, a platter of tacos, double nachos, and a round of Coba iced tea.
TGIFridays’ two food packages (P1,270++ or P1,570++) include Mac and Cheese Bites or Baked Mac & Cheese; rocket pasta or chicken with 6 spices; Fish and Chips or Whiskey Glazed Riblets (half portion); and canned or bottled Sola Iced Tea.
Crustasia Asian Market offers a food wrap (P3,500) that includes Laksa seafood, Char Kwey Teow squid, sesame and miso scallops, grain prawns, and a round of iced tea.
Ten gazebos (tents) are also available for walk-in guests and couples. Options for a full plated meal include those served by Seafood Island, 121 Grille, Backdoor, Cobalabamba and Giligans.

If you’re more low-key, restaurants lining Venice’s Grand Canal have outdoor spaces where couples can enjoy live serenades and great views of the Grand Canal.
From February 11 to 15, customers can buy Valentine’s Day decorations, balloons, flower bouquets, couples shirts for DIY celebration in the Home Sweet Home section. The Bubbles & Roses area is offering flowers and a selection of wines and chocolates until February 16. Couples can seal their love with a special padlock at the Love Locks facility, February 11-15.
Partner stores will receive discounts for Valentine’s Day from February 11 to 28.
“Love Reigns: A Bridal Showcase” runs from February 11 to 15 during mall hours. Couples can plan their dream wedding at this one-stop wedding salon. There will be a Masquerade Fashion Show on February 12 at 6 p.m. and a Bridal Show on February 13 also at 6 p.m. Both shows will take place at the Ponte de Amore bridge. During the wedding fair, there will be a vintage car and wedding exhibition at the main drop-off point of the mall.
On Valentine’s Day, starting at 6:00 p.m., there will be performances by Orange and Lemons, Keiko and Jem Cubil with after-party music provided by DJ Patty Tiu and Mark Thompson at Venice Piazza. Look up as a grand fireworks display will light up the night sky at 8 p.m.
From February 12-14, couples can compete against other couples in an exciting Call of Duty Duo match in Venice Piazza for the chance to win exciting prizes. Couples can make it a night to remember by getting tattoos and piercings at Thompson Collectives.
Mall-goers have even more ways to celebrate the mating season: snap photos in the second-floor flower tunnel, go on a movie date at the Venice Cineplex (now featuring “Marry Me” with Jennifer Lopez and Owen Wilson, and ‘Death on the Nile,’ a mystery thriller starring Gal Gadot and directed by Kenneth Branagh), book a romantic cruise on one of the mall’s gondolas that can seat a maximum of four people, take a souvenir photo with one of Venice’s Grand Canal mimes dressed in colorful costumes inspired by Cupid and Venice, or feed the pigeons in the Piazza.
