US Olympic Trials TV, broadcast live on NBC Sports

NBC Sports, Olympic Channel: Home of the United States team, and Peacock recorded coverage of the United States Olympic Trials for swimming, diving, track and field and gymnastics throughout the month of June.

It includes more than 85 hours of television, including more than 50 in prime time, the highest number ever recorded for these combined Olympic trials.

Swimming: Omaha, Neb.
Wave I – June 4-7
Wave II – June 13-20 (top ranked swimmers)

Diving: Indianapolis
June 6-13

Athletics: Eugene, Ore.
June 18-27

Gymnastic: Saint Louis
June 24-27

In swimming, the top two in the Wave II individual event are vying to qualify for the Olympic team, along with additional swimmers in the 100m and 200m freestyle for the relays. The best swimmers from Wave I will move on to Wave II, for which the best swimmers have byes.

In diving, the top two per individual event and the top synchronized team per event qualify for Tokyo, provided the United States qualifies for those events.

In athletics, the top three in most events make up the team.

In gymnastics, the two best women of the general competition combining the scores of the two days in the trials are automatically part of the team. Jade Carey has already qualified for one of two places in the individual events only. A selection committee rounds out the rest of the women’s squad, which will likely have six women in total.

As currently reported, the top man in the overall standings combining the results of next week’s US championships and practice (four days in total) is automatically part of the squad. The second-place man also does so if he is also in the top three on three of the six individual apparatus. A selection committee chooses the rest of the team.

However, USA Gymnastics is in the process of updating the automatic selection criteria for men as the nationals overlap with an Olympic qualifier, the Pan American Championships.
